On the French Riviera, the choice of a boat generally comes down to one question: speed or comfort? The classic rigid inflatable for thrills, the yacht for everything else. This is a false dilemma. The SACS Rebel 47 is the Italian answer to this question, a 14-meter maxi-RIB that does both, with no visible compromise on either front. Available for charter from Cannes this summer, it's one of the few boats where a day at sea looks exactly like you expected it to.

Maxi-RIB: A Category of Its Own

The term «maxi-RIB» is not a marketing term. It is a distinct technical category, and the Rebel 47 is one of its most accomplished expressions. A classic RIB, rigid inflatable boat, is a semi-rigid: rigid hull, inflatable tube, open to the outside, exposed to wind and spray. Maneuverable, fast, sporty. But not comfortable for a full day, and limited as soon as you look for shade, a galley, or an enclosed space.

A classic yacht, on the other hand, offers comfort, space, and privacy. But its cruising speed is between 8 and 12 knots. From Cannes, Monaco takes two hours. Saint-Tropez is half a day. The geography of the Riviera becomes restrictive, and the day is built around the boat's limitations rather than the passengers' desires.

The Rebel 47 doesn't belong to either of these categories. Its 14 meters give it the surface area of a yacht, two large sunpads, a central cockpit, a cabin with a bathroom, and a full outdoor galley. Its angular lines and performance-oriented architecture give it a top speed exceeding 40 knots. SACS, the Italian shipyard behind the Rebel, comes from racing. You can see it in the carbon finishes, and feel it in the first few seconds of acceleration.

40 knots: what the speed actually changes

On a classic boat, your day's program is defined by what you can reach in a reasonable amount of time. On the Rebel 47, it's different. From Cannes, the Lérins Islands are 10 minutes away. Cap d'Antibes is 20 minutes away. Monaco becomes accessible without sacrificing half the day in transit. Saint-Tropez, when pushed to cruising speed, is no longer an all-day destination, it's one option among others.

This freedom of movement changes the logic of the day. You can anchor at the islands in the morning, head back towards Antibes for lunch at anchor, go down to the Var coast in the late afternoon if the mood strikes. The plan remains open until the very end. It's the opposite of a predefined itinerary that you follow because the boat doesn't allow for anything else.

The’Itinerary Cannes – Lérins Islands – Cap d'Antibes It's one of the most sought-after from Cannes, precisely because it combines several moods in the same day. With the Rebel 47, navigation times between each stop are reduced to a minimum, leaving more time for anchoring, in the water, or simply on board.

The equipment that makes the difference

Visit Rebel 47 What we offer for rent includes several amenities that go beyond the standard configuration. Some details that change your day.

The panoramic sunroof and the rear sunshade

The helm station is topped with an electric sunroof. When navigating at high speed, it provides protection. When at anchor, it opens. The rear sunshade, mounted on carbon fiber stanchions, creates a generous shaded area over the cockpit. In the middle of August, this is the difference between an hour and a half at anchor and four comfortable hours. Shade, on a well-equipped boat, is not a secondary luxury.

The kitchen and the bar

Two drawer refrigerators, one top-loading refrigerator/freezer, an ice maker, a stovetop. Not a prep kitchenette, a full outdoor kitchen, sized for 12 people. Drinks stay cold, food does too. The skipper handles navigation; you handle the vibe.

The carbon shower on the swimming platform

After a snorkeling or Seabob session, the outdoor shower is mounted on a carbon fiber structure at the stern of the boat, directly on the swim platform. This detail, the material as much as the location, sums up quite well what SACS does differently. It's not a functional addition. It's a finishing choice.

The audio system and underwater lights

The audio system has been upgraded beyond the original configuration. At anchor, music fills the entire deck. Underwater lights and courtesy lights allow the evening onboard to be extended if the day turns into sunset. These amenities are designed for festive days, birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and groups of friends. They are present, they work, and they do not need to be requested as an option.

The Seabobs

There are two Sublue Seabobs on board. A Seabob, for those unfamiliar, is an underwater scooter, a sort of torpedo held with two hands that allows one to swim fast, deep, and for a long time effortlessly. In the Lérins Islands, whose seabeds are classified as a natural reserve, it is the best way to explore underwater life without touching anything. Additional nautical equipment (paddleboards, masks, snorkels) is also on board.

What kind of day?

The Rebel 47 accommodates up to 12 guests. Its configuration, featuring two separate sunbathing areas, a central cockpit, and an elevated helm station, works equally well for a compact group or for an occasion that demands a boat to match. Here are some concrete use cases.

Birthday or Bachelor/Bachelorette Party. The Rebel 47 is regularly chosen for this type of occasion. The central cockpit layout lends itself to festive moments. The speed and Seabobs add an active dimension that classic yachts generally do not offer. Champagne can be served from the start, and it will still be cold upon arrival.

Day out with friends. 8 to 10 people, an open day, no fixed itinerary. The Rebel 47 is better suited to this format than most boats this size: it's easy to live with, no-fuss, and allows for the freedom to decide on the go.

Corporate event. The boat's design is immediately striking from the dock. For a seminar or sea-based team-building activity, the Rebel 47 creates a first impression that few charter boats can claim. The professional events at sea have a different logic than private days, and the Rebel 47 responds well to this.
